For three weeks straight, Survivor 51 was on an upward trajectory, delivering an old-school yet refreshing take on the game. With an engaging cast and back-to-back blindsides, the season had kept us on the edge of our seats. But in episode four, things took a turn when a tribe swap once again divided the cast into three tribes. As is often the case with swaps, this shake-up ultimately led to Jenna Doore’s downfall.
Ordinarily, a tribe swap wouldn’t be a big deal; after all, they’ve been a Survivor staple for years, often upending players’ games. But many fans are still scarred by the New Era’s rigid, almost nightmare-inducing gameplay formula. The return of three tribes felt like a callback to that era, and the season seemed to lose some momentum as a result. Still, let’s see how the next couple of episodes play out before hitting the panic button.
In episode 4, we saw players getting split into Toka (Brady Booker, Carter Krull, Kristin Flickinger, Maggie Nestor, Mike Pinsky, and Thien An Nguyen); Savu (Alexis Levine, Devin Way, Jenna Doore, Jelly Loblack, and Ori Jean-Charles); and Dina (Lewis Kelly, Danny Kilby, Eric Macksoud, Linnea Capobianco, Sharonda Cox, and Cristian Chavez).
After losing the immunity challenge, the Savu tribe fractured completely. The tribe was split between Devin, Jelly, and Jenna from OG Toka, and Ori and Alexis from OG Savu. Alexis tried to pull Jenna to the OG Savu side to go against the people who had voted for Jenna earlier in the game. However, Jenna wanted to keep OG Toka strong regardless, and went to Devin and Jelly to vote out Alexis for creating chaos.
Neither Alexis nor Jenna knew it, but Devin, Ori, and Jelly had been working together from the start, and once reunited, they solidified their plan to move forward with the Helicopter Alliance. Once at Tribal, the HA plus Alexis voted unanimously to oust Jenna. So, what did Jenna reveal in her post-game interviews regarding her game and her contentious relationship with Devin? Here are five notable tidbits Jenna shared about her Survivor 51 game.
First, in her interview with TV Insider, Jenna reiterated that she and Alexis had no inkling about the Helicopter Alliance and found out pretty much immediately after the game wrapped up. In the same interview, Jenna disclosed that even though the episode showed the vote was between her and Alexis, she was told it was between Alexis and Jelly, since Alexis and Ori said they were voting for Jelly instead.
In her interview with GoldDerby, Jenna said she wouldn’t have used her Shot in the Dark because she trusted the information she was receiving. She also stated what she thought about the controversial immunity win by Toka: “Production did an absolutely amazing job explaining it to us. What happened was, it was a crazy windy day, and they completed the entire maze. The ball literally flew out. They completed the challenge. To me, that doesn’t feel like a debate at all.’’
Lastly, Jenna was asked in several interviews about her contentious relationship with Devin and why he was so set against her. In her interview for Rob Has a Podcast (RHAP), Jenna went into detail about Devin being immediately frontal with her about targeting her at the well, which is why she wasn’t initially shocked.
As the game progressed, though, she noticed her options dwindling after Devin kept blocking them, which ultimately led to her elimination. As for why Devin was fixated on Jenna, she said it came down to what we saw during the season: he genuinely didn’t believe she was a wedding photographer, so he didn’t trust anything she said or did on Survivor.
