Next Time On Survivor – Episode 3

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 50’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

It goes without saying that the next episode’s going to be centred around the tribe swap! With 21 players left in the game, we’re getting three tribes of seven players each. From the episode trailers, we can pretty much make out that this would be the outcome of the swap:

The new orange Cila tribe will have Charlie, Rick, Kamilla, Cirie, Rizo, Dee, and Jonathan. The new Vatu tribe will consist of Angelina, Ozzy, Emily, Q, Christian, Mike, and Stephenie. And finally, Aubry, Genevieve, Coach, Tiffany, Joe, Chrissy, and Colby will be on the new Kalo tribe.

Immediately, what stands out is that the new Vatu tribe reunites three players from Survivor: David vs. Goliath—Angelina, Christian, and Mike White. I think it’s safe to say that these three will strongly consider working with each other, since there’s no bad blood between them from their past season. At least, I’m sure Mike will leverage this natural connection to protect himself as the only original Kalo tribe member on this swapped tribe.

With Christian’s alliance with Emily and arguably Ozzy from the original Cila tribe, this puts the group of five in the majority, leaving Stephenie and Q vulnerable. If this tribe loses the immunity challenge, I predict the new Vatu tribe will choose between these two players to vote out.

On the new Kalo tribe, the NTOS trailer shows Joe looking shocked, incredulously asking, “Aubry said that to you?” after Colby and Genevieve tell him something. Right after, we get a confessional from Aubry declaring “screw them all” with such a fed-up tone. This sounds like an extension of the dynamics on the original Vatu tribe, where Aubry was pretty much on the outs, seeing how the rest of the tribe dug through her bag to find an idol.

Unless she quickly finds a connection with the likes of Chrissy or Tiffany, I think it’s looking quite grim for Aubry. I can’t see her working with Joe or Coach, and I don’t think she’ll be able to put aside her growing rivalry with Genevieve to work it out with her or Colby. If the new Kalo tribe goes to tribal council, my prediction is that Aubry will be the target, and there’ll be speculation on whether she does indeed have an advantage to protect herself.

Finally, on the new Cila tribe, the NTOS trailer shows Rizo and Charlie on a hammock, followed by Charlie wide-eyed, mouth agape, in shock at what seems like a wild plan. There isn’t much other information about this tribe. Still, I have a feeling we’ll get at least a mention about possibly voting out Cirie for the usual reasons, or perhaps Dee, since she’s already won Survivor.

What do you think will happen in Episode 3? Leave your predictions in the comments!

  1. If nuvatu goes I wouldn’t be surprised if Emily and Christian target Ozzy. Christian was voted out by the other 2 so he might get the rest to target Mike or Angelina. And j don’t think anyone would argue with that plan.

If nuKalo go to tribal I agree that Aubry would be a target. But I think ultimately it would be Chrissy getting the boot. With a 2-2-2 vote with Aubry negating the two votes with her idol. And Chrissy going in the tie break. Only 6 votes cause Colby doesn’t have a vote .

I think nucila will go to tribal. Cause Cirie will have to compete. After some talk about targeting Jonathan as a physical threat, Cirie as a social. I think the final decision will be between Dee and Rizo. With Dee ultimately getting the boot. Hoping for Cirie to go though.
