Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor: Winners At War.

Cast/Season

  • As of this episode, Rob has the most days played of anyone on Survivor with 131.
  • Parvati is tied with Ozzy in second place with 128 days.
    • However, Parvati has 128 days played in-game, while 15 of Ozzy’s were spent on Redemption Island.
    • Cook Islands was the first season both of them were on, and they’ve both played Survivor four times.

Tribal Council

  • Rob was voted out 4-1.
    • He also received four votes against him when he was voted out in Heroes vs. Villains.
  • Rob has been voted out pre-merge twice.
    • Both times he was voted out pre-merge, Tyson was voted out in the episode before him.
  • The last time Rob and Amber played together they made it to Final Tribal Council, whereas in this season they both got voted out pre-merge.
  • Rob and Tyson have been voted out the most times of all the players on this season with three times.
  • All three players that returned from All-Stars were voted out pre-merge.
  • Every player that has competed on The Amazing Race is now on the Edge of Extinction (Rob, Amber, Ethan, Natalie).
  • Ben voted for Rob during the Dalton Ross EW pre-game first vote, and he successfully voted him out this episode.
  • Sophie voted for Sarah during the Dalton Ross EW pre-game first vote but has voted with her at all three tribals they’ve attended.
  • Ben has the most correct votes so far this season with four.
    • He’s voted correctly at every tribal he’s attended this season.
  • There has been an equal amount of men and women voted out so far with three each.
  • Natalie is the only player who has been voted out so far that played their first season after Cagayan.
  • None of the players voted out so far have been players that were on their first season in the 30s.
  • Sandra is the only player left who played before All-Stars.
  • Natalie is the only player who isn’t 40+ to be voted out so far.

Yara Tribe

  • Yara is the 7th expansion tribe in Survivor.
  • Yara is the 19th green tribe in Survivor.
    • It is the 6th green expansion tribe
    • Angkor in Cambodia is the only non-green expansion tribe so far on Survivor.
  • Yara is the Fijian word for “harrow”, or a farming plow, it also could be the verb “to plow.”
  • Lesu from Edge of Extinction is the only expansion tribe that doesn’t have the letter “a” in its name.
    • Angkor, Ikabula, Tavua, Yanuya, Tiva, and Yara all have the letter “a” in their name.
  • The Yara tribe has two players that won back to back (Sophie & Rob) and three players that also won back to back (Adam, Sarah, and Ben).
  • The symbol for the Yara tribe is a crossed sword and a gun, which are the two symbols of the original Sele and Dakal tribes.
  • Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers and Island of the Idols are the only seasons filmed in the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji that didn’t have an expansion tribe.
    • They’re also the only two seasons filmed in Fiji that didn’t have a green tribe.
  • This is the second time that Rob and Sarah have swapped to a green tribe, and Sarah’s second time being swapped to a green expansion tribe.
  • This season has the same pre-merge tribe color combination as Game Changers.
    • Red and blue starting tribes with a green expansion tribe.
  • The Yara tribe is on the beach that was previously used for Lesu in Edge of Extinction, Tiva in David vs. Goliath, Yanuya in Ghost Island, Levu in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, Nuku in Game Changers, and Ikabula in Millennials vs. Gen X.
    • Ben and Sarah started on this beach previously.
    • Ben and Sarah swapped to this beach on Winners at War.
      • Wendell and Sandra swapped to this beach on their previous seasons.

Tribe Swap

  • Jeremy, Adam, Sarah, Sandra, Ben, Wendell, and Nick are the only winners this season that have been present during a tribe expansion.
  • Sarah and Wendell are the only winners to be on an expansion tribe before this season.
  • Sarah is the only player to be a part of two different expansion tribes.
    • She was on Tavua in Game Changers.
    • She is on Yara in Winners at War.
  • Michele and Parvati are the only players who remained on Sele after the swap.
  • Kim, Sandra, and Tony are the only players who remained on Dakal after the swap.
  • Yul and Parvati who played together in Cook Islands were swapped to the same tribe.
  • Every tribe had a 3-2 split after the swap.
    • Dakal – 3 Dakal and 2 Sele.
    • Sele – 3 Dakal and 2 Sele.
    • Yara – 3 Sele and 2 Dakal.
  • In Philippines, Denise started on a blue tribe and was switched to a red tribe, and the same thing happened during the swap on Winners at War.
  • This is the first tribe swap that Sophie has participated in.
    • She was the only player going into Winners at War that never participated in a tribe swap.

Immunity Challenge – “Block in a Hard Place”

  • This puzzle was previously used in Samoa, South Pacific, Blood vs. Water, Cambodia, and Millennials vs. Gen X.
  • Angkor, Lesu, and Yara are the only expansion tribes to lose the first immunity challenge that they participated in.
  • Sandra is currently the only player this season who has won 100% of the challenges she’s competed in.
    • She sat out during the two challenges that Dakal lost.

Hidden Immunity Idol/Advantage

  • Sophie found a split idol, in which she had to keep one half and give the other half to another player.
    • She gave half to Sarah.
    • Sophie is the only player this season to have been in possession of two halves of different idols.
  • The four hidden immunity idols received in this season are held by women.
    • All three women on Dakal have idols.
  • This is the second time that there were four active idols in play at once.
    • The first time was in Ghost Island, during episode 7, when Domenick, Michael, and Wendell had one, and Chris got one on Ghost Island.
      • Winners at War is the first time that there are four active idols in play at the end of an episode, as Chris was voted out after he found the idol in the same episode.
  • Amber is the only winner of an all-returning player season who doesn’t yet have an idol or advantage this season.
    • Sandra, winner of Heroes vs. Villains, has a hidden immunity idol.
    • Jeremy, winner of Cambodia, has the safety without power advantage.
    • Sarah, winner of Game Changers, has the vote steal advantage.
  • Tony is the only Dakal player without an idol or advantage.
    • Denise, Kim, and Sandra have idols.
    • Jeremy has the “safety without power” advantage.
  • Michele and Sarah are the only players in the game who haven’t been in possession of a hidden immunity idol in their Survivor careers.
    • Everyone on post-swap Dakal has been in possession of an idol.
  • All three hidden immunity idols have been found by women who won back to back seasons.
    • Sophie won South Pacific (season 23).
    • Kim won One World (season 24).
    • Denise won Philippines (season 25).
  • Sele is the only post-swap tribe where nobody has an idol or advantage.
  • Jeremy is the only man with an advantage so far (safety without power).
    • Denise, Kim, Sandra, and Sophie have idols,
    • Sarah has the steal a vote advantage.

Edge of Extinction/Fire Tokens

  • There was no in-game Edge of Extinction segment in this episode.
  • This was the first episode where nobody on the Edge of Extinction earned fire tokens.
  • Rob is the first person who was voted out that previously received fire tokens from someone on the Edge of Extinction.
    • He’s also the first person to will more than one fire token when he was voted out.
  • Natalie and Parvati have the most fire tokens with 4.
  • Sandra, Sarah, Rob, and Tyson have the least fire tokens with 0.
    • Rob is the only original Sele member with 0 fire tokens.
  • Parvati is the first person who has been willed more than one fire token by a player who was voted out.
    • Ethan and Rob both gave theirs to her when they were voted out.
  • Nick is the only original Dakal member so far to receive a fire token from someone that was voted out.

Confessionals

  • Sophie and Rob had the most confessionals this episode with 6.
    • This is the first time Sophie’s received more than 4 confessionals in a regular episode (not including the South Pacific finale).
      • She had the same amount of confessionals in the South Pacific finale as she did in this episode.
    • This is also Sophie’s first time having the most confessionals in an episode.
  • Sandra (and everyone on the Edge of Extinction) had the least amount of confessionals this episode with 0.
  • Adam has the most confessionals so far this season with 21.

Ratings

Episode Title

  • Sarah said the episode title “The Buddy System on Steroids” when talking about Rob’s repeat strategy from Redemption Island to keep everyone at camp so they don’t walk off to strategize.

  1. I love these stats posts! I was wondering if a couple things could be added. Earlier, when Ethan got voted out 4-3-1, you mentioned that Rob was voted out 4-3-1 in HvV. This episode, Rob was voted out 4-1 and Ethan was voted out 4-1 in All-Stars. Thought that was a cool thing to acknowledge. Also, I thought it was cool how Sarah has now voted out both Island of the Idol mentors after a tribe swap in 15th place, 6th vote out of the season. Sandra in Game Changers and now, Rob in Winners at War. Thought that was an interesting thing too.
