Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor: Island of the Idols.

Tribal Council

  • Jack was voted out 2-0.
    • Dean used a hidden immunity idol, negating 5 votes against him.
  • Jack is the first person voted out this season with less than 6 votes against him.
  • He’s the first person named Jack to play Survivor.
  • This was the first tribal council Karishma attended since episode 1 where she didn’t receive votes.
  • Everyone that voted for Dean in this episode has a name that starts with either “J” (Jack, Janet, & Jamal) or “K” (Karishma, Kellee), while the only two players whose names don’t start with J or K (Dean & Noura) voted for Jack.
  • All three post-swap tribal councils only had two people receiving votes each time.
    • Episode 5 – Tom & Karishma.
    • Episode 6 – Jason & Elaine.
    • Episode 7 – Jack & Dean.
  • Noura is the only original Vokai with a perfect voting record this season so far.
    • She didn’t vote in episode 5, but she correctly voted at every tribal council she was able to vote.
  • Jamal has the lowest amount of correct votes of the remaining players with only 1 correct vote (he voted out Tom in episode 5).
  • Of the eight seasons filmed in Fiji, there have been three men as the final pre-merge boot and there have been five women.
    • Fiji Lisi Linares.
    • Millennials vs. Gen X – Michaela Bradshaw.
    • Game Changers – Jeff Varner.
    • Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers – Ali Elliott.
    • Ghost Island – Bradley Kleighege.
    • David vs. Goliath – Lyrsa Torres.
    • Edge of Extinction – Wendy Diaz.
    • Island of the Idols – Jack Nichting.
  • This episode was the first time Karishma voted incorrectly.
  • Elaine and Missy are the only players to vote at every tribal council they attended and have a perfect voting record.
    • Elizabeth and Noura both have perfect voting records, but lost their ability to vote at one of their tribal councils.
  • This was the first time Dean voted correctly since episode 1.
  • Jack is the only person voted out pre-merge who switched tribes at the swap.
  • Every Lairo player to stay on Lairo after the swap (Dean, Karishma, & Tom) received votes at post-swap tribal councils.
  • Nobody received votes at more than once tribal council post-swap this season.
  • Aaron is the only male Lairo member to not receive any votes pre-merge.
  • Karishma voted for both of the former Lairo players that she swapped with at post-swap tribal councils.
    • She voted for Tom in episode 5 and Dean in episode 7.
  • Going into the merge, half of the original Lairo members have votes against them (Dean, Elaine, & Karishma) while the other half don’t have any votes against them (Aaron, Elizabeth, & Missy)
  • Noura is the only original Vokai member to receive votes and still be in the game.

Jury

  • Jack is the first member of the jury.
    • He’s the first player voted out pre-merge to immediately become a jury member since Courtney in Heroes vs. Villains.
      • Coincidentally, Rob and Sandra were both on that season and neither of them was on the jury.
        • Rob was voted out pre-jury and Sandra was a finalist/the winner.
  • Jack is the lowest placing player on a season (excluding Edge of Extinction) to be a member of the jury.
    • The only other person to come in 14th place and be a member of the jury is Joe Anglim in Edge of Extinction.
  • In 39 seasons, there have been 24 men as the first jury member and 15 women (Hali Ford was the first juror twice).
    • Men: Greg Buis, John Carroll, Dave Johnson, Ryan Opray, Lex van den Berghe, Sarge Masters, Coby Archa, Bobby-Jon Drinkard, Austin Carty, Brad Virata, Rocky Reid, Marcus Lehman, Brendon Synott, Erik Cardona, Coach Wade, David Murphy, Jim Rice, Jonas Otsuji, Michael Snow, Aras Baskauskas, Josh Canfield, Neal Gottlieb/Nick Maiorano (Neal was removed, but was officially the first jury member), Chris Noble, and Jack Nichting.
    • Women: Alicia Calaway, Kelly Goldsmith, Erin Collins, Jamie Dugan, Eliza Orlins, Alina Wilson, R.C. Saint-Amour, Sarah Lacina, Hali Ford (twice), Kass McQuillen, Michelle Schubert, Desi Williams, Elizabeth Olson, and Reem Daly.
  • This is the sixth season to have the jury start before the merge (not including Edge of Extinction).
    • Jack is the tenth player voted out pre-merge to become a member of the jury. The other jury members who were voted out pre-merge are as follows:
      • Thailand – Erin Collins.
      • Cook Islands – Brad Virata, Rebecca Borman, & Jenny Guzon-Bae.
      • Fiji – Rocky Reid & Lisi Linares.
      • Gabon – Marcus Lehman.
      • Heroes vs. Villains- Coach Wade & Courtney Yates.

Confessionals

  • Kellee had the most confessionals this episode with 6.
    • This is the first episode where the person who went to Island of the Idols didn’t have the most confessionals in an episode.
    • This is Kellee’s second episode where she had the highest confessional count.
      • Both times she had the most confessionals in an episode, it was 6.
  • Dan and Elizabeth had the least amount of confessionals with 0.
  • Vince is the only male to have the most confessionals in an episode pre-merge.

Hidden Immunity Idols/Advantage

  • Kellee is the first player to give another person a hidden immunity idol and also vote for that person at tribal council.
  • Both hidden immunity idols played this episode were played by/for someone that didn’t originally possess the idol.
    • Kellee gave her idol to Dean.
    • Jamal played his idol for Noura.
  • This is the first time since episode 4 of Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers where there was a successful pre-merge idol play.
    • Joe played a hidden immunity idol, which sent Alan home.
      • It’s the first time since Game Changers where a pre-merge idol negated a majority of the votes.
        • In Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, the vote was a 2-2 tie, where Joe’s idol negated 2/4 votes, while the idol play in Game Changers, where Tai played his idol for Sierra, negated 6/11 votes.
  • This is the first time a pre-merge tribal council had two hidden immunity idols played.
  • This is the first season since Blood vs. Water where there are no idols or advantages present going into the merge.

Island of the Idols

  • Janet is the first player to decline to do the test on Island of the Idols.

Immunity Challenge – “Faulty Towers”

  • The challenge title is based on the classic British sitcom from the ’70s named Fawlty Towers.
  • Lairo only won 2/9 of the pre-merge challenges.

Ratings

Episode Title

  • The episode title “I Was Born at Night, but Not Last Night” was said by Boston Rob about Sandra wanting to make a bet with him that a woman would win the season.
    • He’s said this line previously in an episode of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains.
  • The original episode title was “A Moment of Inspiration” and it was said by Kellee Kim about her idea to give Dean her hidden immunity idol.
